中学英語で少し大人のエッセイ:”500 miles”

“500 miles” on June 5, 2016

I’m walking on the shore in the evening. The western sky is glowing with the setting sun. A flock of wild birds returning to their nests make silhouettes against the orange sky. The wind from the sea is surely a south wind, but it is cool.

Sitting on the shore, I’m listening to musics played at random on iPhone.

One old sweet music is played, “500 miles”. It makes me think of the day when I left my home country.

She was standing in secret behind a pole of the platform of a night train. I was filled with a dream living in Tokyo. It was the day of my new life. But as it turned out, it was the day I left her.

It was a memory of long ago. The song and the setting sun make me sentimental.

If you miss the train I’m on

You will know the that I am gone

You can hear the whistle blow

A hundred miles

A hundred miles, a hundred miles——

I like “500 miles” covered by Takako Matsu.
