三島由紀夫の『潮騒』で英語の勉強
いまの人の初恋とはどんな風なんでしょうか。私の時代は、まだ『潮騒』に近いものでした。昔だからと言って、恋愛が窮屈だったわけではない。逆に寛容だったように思う。
中学生の頃、よく何人かで若い女先生の下宿に遊びに行っていた。すると先生が、皆に薄いウィスキーの水割りを作って、「誰が好きなのか、順番に言いなさい」と白状させられた。たぶん、女生徒が遊びに行くと、同じようなことを聞いていたと思う。そんなことが問題になるような時代ではなかった。安っぽい正義論だけを振りかざす時代ではなかった。SNSなんかない。「夜神社で待っているから」、夜は暗いし、恋愛には良い時代だった。

After then, he didn’t come a chance to meet Hatsue. Whenever he returned from fishing, he looked around the shore. Even when he found her, as she was working busily, he could not talk to her.
